Creating a Yoco payment link

How to make a Yoco payment link so givers can pay by card — and why you probably do not need one.

Start here: you do not need this. Bank transfer already works, arrives whole and costs nobody anything. Yoco is for families who want relatives to be able to pay by card without an app. Yoco onboards you as a BUSINESS and accepts sole proprietors, so you do not need a company, but they will ask for business details. A parent collecting birthday money is not obviously a merchant, and that is an unresolved question rather than a solved one.

What to do

  1. Sign up at YocoSole proprietors are accepted. Expect questions about the business and some documents.
  2. Open Payment Links in the app or dashboardYoco calls them Payment Links. Create a new one.
  3. Leave the amount open if you canA gift is not a fixed price. An open amount lets a grandmother give R1,000 towards a R400 item.
  4. Copy the whole linkIt starts with https://. Copy all of it, not just part.

Then, in Giftling

Paste the whole link into Direct payment options on your child's page. Givers get a “Pay with Yoco” button and a QR code, and the money goes straight to your own account.

Worth knowing

You do not have to do any of this

None of this is required. A bank transfer already works on your child's page, arrives whole, and costs nobody a fee — these rails are only for families who want givers to have another way to pay.
